Okay, I moaned too early.
You know how you’re minding your own business and suddenly out of the blue the most PERFECT plot idea will hit you? Usually when you’re least expecting it?
I got a quite spectacular one while waiting in the queue for Oblivion at Alton Towers.
And then a series of smaller fireworks, as the implications of my idea worked themselves out in my head, and suddenly this idea for a book that I was toying with has become a book that I have to write, not because of the contract, but because of the story. And the hero. Ohhhhhh, the hero.
(Oblivion, by the way, was worth the wait in itself. Scary enough so you are thinking “I shouldn’t have come on this, can I turn back now, I wish they’d hurry up and get it over with” as you lead up to the drop-off, and “That was great, oh my God what a rush, I feel wonderful!” afterwards.)
Thanks for the sympathy on previous post, my friends.

Ooooo *wiggles in excitement* sounds fab!
Kate Hardy says:
New book sounds great!
But… you went on Oblivion???? I am full of admiration for you.
I’m way too wussy. I think I’d have done the ‘you lot go on the ride. I have to write my book’ routine.
Trish says:
Cool on the new idea. I didn’t know what Oblivion was, so checked out the pictures. Ack! No way in the world I’d get on that thing.
Anna Lucia says:
I LOVE it when you get moments like that! Excellent!
Michelle Styles says:
Fantastic that it was productive and that you have an idea that excites you. Will roller coasters figure in it?
Julie says:
Michelle…er, maybe. There will definitely be some plunging into holes at great speed…
I love roller coasters. You couldn’t get my DH on one if you paid him. So it was exciting for me to get a chance to ride some, and for free, no less!
