chemistry

Okay, so Michelle and Kate and Anna don’t quite get my Cillian Murphy obsession. Nor does Jenny, who went with me to see Red Eye tonight. But hey. Can I explain chemistry!?!?

Well, yes I can. It’s the dark hair and the ice-blue eyes. It’s the high cheekbones and the sharply defined jaw. It’s the crooked teeth on the bottom of his smile. It’s the freckles.

But honestly, as long as he does it for me, that’s fine. My hero will look different. Stronger nose, darker hair, broader shoulders, more smile lines.

Anyway. Red Eye was okay, but too simple, plot-wise. No real surprises, and the intensity dies down a good 15 minutes before the end, which means the middle was better than the end. Unusual in a film.

However, he did look like this.

And I had something deep to share, other than Mr Murphy, but I’ve completely forgotten it, because Jenny made me share a bottle of champagne with her after the film. Hooray!

  1. A better picture. It may have been the first picture that him look robotic.
There is a certain tilt to his chin here.

  3. Yes, this is a better picture. And you had me at ‘more smile lines’. I can see the classic qualities of ‘handsome’ in his face, but the smoothness of his face creeps me out a bit.

    I’m sorry! I feel like such a failure…. ggg

  4. I think he’s hot, Julie. He’s got a very sexy mouth. And those eyes… Very sensual.

Sorry Red-Eye was a disappointment. I’m looking forward to that new Reese Witherspoon movie that’s coming out this weekend. Can’t remember the title…

  5. Nope, still don’t see it. Is he really 29? He looks half that age. He also looks as if he was trying to be a big boy and do the ironing himself but couldn’t do it as well as his mum does…

It isn’t even the freckles that put me off (David Duchovny has them and he’s definitely hot). Can’t put my finger on it. But.. nope.

However, I’m sure as your book hero he will be gorgeous. Because you’re good at writing gorgeous men.

  6. LOL nope, still don’t see it. In the first picture I just keep thinking, someone get him a chapstick! And I haven’t seen that defined jaw you’re talking about. But….as long as he works for you…and this way you don’t have to share….

  7. All I’m saying is I’ve seen him in Batman Begins and HE GAVE ME NIGHTMARES!

Yes, I’m laffin’ here. He’s a damn good actor. Not my type either though, I like ‘em a bit more rugged. He’s all yours, Julie! ;-)

  8. Biddy, I think you know the reason for the champagne… ;-)

    Anna, don’t be sorry! ggg

Rhonda agrees with me! See, I KNEW Rhonda and I had a lot in common besides a love of boogyin’ down.

Aw, Kate, thanks for saying I’m good at writing gorgeous men.

Not sharing is a good thing, Donna. :-)

See, I sorta like those total-psycho-take-over-the-whole-world-and-kill-everyone-who-gets-in-your-way types, Saskia.

Always great to meet a Cillian lover! Since you’re a professional writer – feel free to stop by our site and comment on our fanfics (I write in the Red Eye section – check out my fic series THE PURSE), but there are loads of others, including ‘real-life’ Cillian fic.

    In short we are obsessed!
