strolling

I would have liked to have been charging ahead with this book…in fact I’m strolling. I’m averaging my 1000 words a day, though I feel as if I should be doing much more, because it’s the holiday. However, I’ve been relaxing as well, and that’s a good thing.

I’m at the middle of the book, and while I don’t think it’s sagging, because plenty is happening, it’s going slowly. But the tortoise gets there in the end as well as the hare.

Right?

Today:
27046 words in total
3889 since Tuesday
…and tomorrow I’ll write the first kiss. Yes, I know it’s halfway through the book before they kiss. He wasn’t attracted to her at first, okay? It’ll be a sexfest very soon, and I have to show SOME restraint to make up for my last book, where my characters were having sex in chapter two.

  1. Oh, the tension in this one will be thick. I can feel it. Maybe going slower than you planned will mean fewer changes when you go to edit.

  2. Sheesh, that’s gonna be some kiss! Talk about build up. Gotta love that.

Though I’m also partial to characters who can’t keep their hands off each other and have sex in chapter 2. :)

  5. Hey Julie! I saw a quote recently that said when a scene feels slow, slow down even more. I don’t have a clue why that would be the right answer, but I thought it was interesting.
I bet this is going to be one hot kiss. :-)

  6. Jenna…oh, I wish. My level of edits seems to have very little do to with my writing speed, and more with my general level of suckage, which seems to vary with the air temperature, collision of planets, or whatever.

Karen…I wish these two would get a move on and tear each other’s clothes off, too. Sigh.

Trish….LOL! You made me think of Rocky Horror…

Mary Beth…if I go any slower I will be impersonating a glacier. :)

You don’t, it doesn’t but I’m not declining that verb any more
