Yesterday and the day before, I was having regular contractions every ten minutes, though they didn’t seem to be getting anywhere. Today…not regular. I swear this baby is NEVER GOING TO COME and I am going to be pregnant FOREVER.

The doctor was bemused by the tattoo.

  1. I sooo remember that feeling! I do feel for you, I was bored to distraction in those last few days and wished there was someone I could complain to about the delay! (The manufacturers perhaps?!) But it certainly sounds like those muscles of yours are limbering up for something!
Being late is better than being too early and the problems that can cause.
hang on in there (not that you’ve got much choice)

  2. Last night I dreamed that Biddy, Anna, Sela & I were visiting and you got so fed up of us trying to induce the birth with curries and blowing up balloons (it worked for a colleague of mine) that you banished us all to the pub – by the time we got back you’d given birth all on your own, very quickly and quietly and with no pain – here’s hoping some of that dream comes true!

(Mind you, we were all very surprised to find out you’d had a baby girl so I guess that bit’s not coming true!

  3. If you’re getting contractions surely that means you’ll be in proper labour soon. Like volcanoes, there’s usually some seismic activity prior to the big explosion. Hmm. Bad metaphor. But still, it does sound like something significant must be about to happen very soon. Hope so.

  4. Fingers crossed for you, sounds like you’re on the right track now. It seems like half the world is holding its breath waiting for this little chap to put in an appearance. Best wishes, you’re in my thoughts at this time.

  5. Damn that false alarm! Hope the real thing starts for you soon and that by the end of the weekend this blog will be filled with messages of congratulation.

  6. Julie- all those regular contractions are probably dilating you so when the time comes you’ll probably already be halfway there. Cheery thought, eh?

Hang in there. Have sex. Seriously.

  7. Julie, that tattoo is awesome. I wish I’d thought of that.
I know how you feel about the waiting time for the baby. It DOES feel like the baby just wants to stay in there forever.
I hope it all goes well.

  10. Why wouldn’t he want to stay there all warm and cozy forever? He doesn’t have to share you at all this way…

Let the little contractions come. They are doing something. Had a few days of it with BabyBoy…and he was here 2 hours after my water broke! I think Fecklet is being kind, waiting for your body to be ready.

Don’t mind us all checking…we just want to see the baby. Have you taught your mom how to post a piccy for us yet?

  12. I don’t mean to bum you out by my first child was late – a week late! Little bugger didn’t want to leave. Like Jenna said, it’s warm and cozy in there, why come out in the cold bright world?

Hang in there, it’ll happen. It HAS to! lol

  13. Thanks, all. Vicky, I hope your dream comes true (I don’t mind whether it’s a boy or a girl, except we’ve got everything in blue, but I suppose the baby won’t care). Thank you everyone for the hope that something is happening and it will all be perfect somewhere down the line!

  14. Blue’s a good colour for baby clothes, I think. It doesn’t get stained as easily as white, doesn’t make the baby look jaundiced the way that yellow can, and doesn’t clash with the baby’s face the way pink or red would when the baby’s screaming its head off. [That's assuming your baby's basically going to have the same skin colour that you do, of course, which might not be a correct assumption to make. I've not seen any photos of your husband].

My baby was born so huge he didn’t fit most of the newborn sized clothes I’d got for him. That was a bit odd.

  15. Go have sex – a good orgasm is the same as a decent contraction and can start them off again if they’ve stopped. Honestly. Cause and cure and all that, I suppose. :)

  16. Oh, I remember those days. Hang in there. Mine did that and I told my dh to be on stand by. Then they stopped. The next day–nothing. Then the following night they started at midnight…two minutes apart. It took 4 hours to deliver my son. Thank God we made it to the hospital!

Sending you wishes for a safe, easy delivery and a healthy baby boy! :)

  19. Contractions=good sign. Contractions + Sex = Even better.

Although, as much as we’d like to hurry things along, the sad truth is, he’ll come when he’s good and ready. Not even born yet, and he’s already typically male. ;)

  20. Fingers crossed those dilations mean it’s not long now before HE makes an appearance. Let’s hope it’s before Christmas.

  21. Julie,
Here’s hoping today is the day your little one arrives. My first baby was late, so I did squats…and what do you know, I went into labor. True story!
Hang in there. The baby WILL come soon.

  22. Julie- hope you’re having fun whatever’s happening
Have you decided on names yet?
Hope he’s not as lazy about eating as about coming out – Patrick was five days late and from the start was a slow eater, so he fed for two hours every four hours. He’s slightly quicker now he’s nearly four and feeding himself (but only slightly ;-) )
Have you your Christmas cards written yet? (trying to take your mind off things – not working? :-( didn’t think so!)
Have a fun birth whenever you decide to come out Fecklet!

    Hugs

  23. Oooh, no post today.

If it’s just because you’re fed up and you want to take your mind off things, then go and see Casino Royale. I just got back, 00.15 (should be 00.7, shouldn’t it?) and have to say Daniel Craig is a fantastic Bond. If I had a blog like yours, I’d definitely be sticking a picture up there.
