September 22, 2008 | One Night Stand, covers
This week is a week of covers. I’ve received my covers for my Samhain release as B. H. Dark, Close Encounters, and also for my May 09 Little Black Dress release, Girl from Mars. I’ll be posting them here, this week.
But first, I discovered this cover, for the German version of One Night Stand:

Beautiful. Pink. Involves lipstick. Title means “The Lucky Accident”.
It’s out in March.

Julie says:
I do think this is a lovely cover, though not as beautiful as the original UK cover, which I adore.
It shows you what a sick individual I am that on this cover, I immediately looked for an evil claw-like thing coming out of the pram, like the poster for It’s Alive:

But what do I know? The next cover I’ll post has an alien eyeball on it.
(PS The book does not feature evil claws.)
Ehle says:
That is a gorgeous cover with the skinniest pregnant woman I’ve ever seen on it. She must be related to Nicole Kidman.
And I think that’s a tentacle, not a claw. Which would make a cool cover for Girl from Mars, if the girl was actually from Mars and that actually was a tentacle. Just saying.
Either way, it’s pink. It’s pretty. And I like the fonts, especially that crooked L at the end. Bring on the alien eyeball!
Julie says:
Yes, I agree that it’s gorgeous and I love the fonts, too. I’ve been really really lucky with my covers, and the foreign ones have been a treat.
It is my own fault that I have a very sick imagination and can never see a pram like that without thinking of a horror movie.
I think I did get some tentacles into Girl from Mars (and definitely into Close Encounters). But not One Night Stand.
And I think on the cover, this woman isn’t pregnant any more, as she’s pushing the pram, presumably with a baby in it. She is much more stylish than my heroine, but that’s not a bad thing at all.
Kate Johnson says:
I was just going to say that I didn’t recall the heroine of ONS wearing much lipstick, but then I remembered that it also features on the cover of my first Samhain book, and the heroine of that never wears lippie if she can help it, either.
Still, nice cover!
Nell Dixon says:
Cute cover!
