It’s my wedding anniversary today. My husband, however, is in Australia working. I did wake up to a very nice text message and, soon after, a phone call, but it’s a lonely day to be sitting at my computer writing stories about love.
So some girly friends are coming round tonight after the Fecklet’s in bed to help me drink some wine in celebration of eleven years of matrimony. Wow.
If you’re reading this on the other side of the world, Dave: I love you.
On the writing front, for some reason, the focus of my wip has shifted from fox-sucking freaks to doilies. My mind is rather a frightening place, sometimes. The word meter on the side, there, is totally wrong by the way; I’ve cruised past 70,000 today and hope to hit 80K by next weekend, hopefully covering a funeral on the way.
(PS, Jess, before I got sidetracked by doilies today, I very nearly used the sentence “we drink our cocoa in companionable silence”, but caught myself in time.)

Happy Anniversary!
I loved doilies when I was running my playgroup. Did you know that if you splat paint all over one, then peel it off the backing paper, you get a cool pattern left behind?
Happy Anniversary, Julie.
Happy Anniversary.
At least you will be able to celebrate all over again when Dave returns. Anniversaries like birthday are best savoured over a long period.
Thank you Jan, and cyclops8, and Michelle!
And yes, we should celebrate when he’s back.
Hmm, Jan, I don’t think that doily art will make it into this book, but I can try!
Happy Anniversary Julie and Dave!
The year has flown. I remember your post last year. Holy smokes.
Happy Anniversary, Julie. Have a lovely night with your girlfriends.
Congratulations! Hope Fecklet gave you big hugs today.
And good call on the “companionable cocoa”
Happy Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary, celebrate all month!
Happy anniversary, Julie and Dave.
Oh, and Julie – in an addendum to Jan – if you soak cotton wool balls in paint and then drop them on a large piece of paper and smack them with a spatula – that’s great fun for toddlers. Known as Splatter Painting in the days when my son was at nursery. (Now he’s only an inch or two shorter than I am – high school growth spurt!)
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! Have a fun girlie evening too x
Julie,
A very Happy Anniversary to you and Dave. Candace and I will be a week behind you!
Happy Anniversary, Jules!
Side note to Jan — the paint-doily idea sounds like great fun! Although my mother would be absolutely horrified, as she crochets the things, and you would NEVER, EVER put paint on them! Oh, the horror!!
Thank you Donna, and Vanessa, and Jess, and Mary Beth, and Chris, and Kate, and Sally, and Dennis, and Kris.
Dennis, congratulations in advance to you and Candace!!
Kris, do you have doilies all around your house? Do you have a doily bikini??
Kate, you obviously have wipe-clean walls in your home.
Jules, have you been snooping in my wardrobe…???
