I’m holing myself up with the manuscript for Girl from Mars and an endless supply of tea and chocolate today.
But there’s still time to give me your tips for romance and have a chance to win a book. Just comment on the post below; I’ll announce the winner tomorrow.
In the end, I only had time to offer one piece of advice on the radio yesterday, and it was, of course, “Read a romantic novel.”

My only tip would be to make the effort to have some real time together – you know, away from the house, without the kids.
That’s why days like VD can be so good for motivating you to make the restaurant/movie booking, arrange the babysitter, find a nice outfit, get a bit excited about being together, alone! Sometimes, if there is no ‘reason’ to do it, you let it slide (of course we shouldn’t need a reason, but we all know how time slips away).
And great advice, Julie. Can’t go wrong reading a romance novel!
Yes, you’re right, Kirsty. It’s very hard to do that, though–to get out together as adults! But very, very important.
I hope you had a great Valentine’s Day.
