June 4, 2009 | Girl from Mars

Finally, FINALLY, the book is going along crackingly and I’m writing my quota per day. Though as I haven’t started writing yet today, maybe I should get going.

But I did go into town today and saw Girl from Mars on the shelves in Waterstones! Face-out and everything. I had a really nice chat with the romance buyer, who is a lovely woman, and who’s built a brilliant romance section. It’s so great to talk with someone who’s genuinely in love with the genre and enthusiastic about books. She has an ambition to open a speciality book shop one day and she would be great. But the sad truth is that independent book shops have a difficult time these days.

We bought Fecklet a copy of Winnie the Pooh. He has a CD of the stories which he listens to constantly, so I thought he’d like the book, even though it has rather a lot of words for a boy of two and a half. But I read him two of the stories today and he loved them. I think he has them memorised already from the CD and he was quite surprised that Mummy could find the same words in a book!

Well. If Girl from Mars is on the shelves, then it’s time for me to start my promotional stuff! So I’ll be blogging about writing the book, and some of the characters, and doing some contests. I’ll also be sending out a newsletter soon, so if you want to be entered for the contest, don’t forget to send me an email using the “contact” link above!

    YAY on the writing!

I saw ‘Girl From Mars’ on the shelves of Borders and I took one off and bought it for Caroline’s birthday. She was very excited!

Well, I pre-ordered mine–and now I’m drumming my fingers impatiently. Where is it? Why do Waterstones get it before me??

Mine hasn’t come yet either. Flipping Amazon!
