after having written 15,000 words in 8 days, my fingers started twitching randomly last monday. worse tuesday. really bad wednesday. went to doctor on thursday morning and she said stay off the computer. i pleaded with her, but knew she was right.
after four days with bandages on both my wrists, a new chair, a new keyboard (coming tomorrow) ibruprofen gel, and no writing done since thursday morning, i seem to be better, but not yet cured. going crazy not writing, but have seen friends, done crits, and read 2/3 of neil gaiman’s american gods.
tomorrow, if the keyboard arrives, i’ll write. finally.

Hugs Julie, hope the keyboard arrives soon. Happy reading in the meantime.
I sprayed five cans of scotchguard on new sofas on the weekend and couldn’t use my right hand for two hours. Luckily it was only temporary, but shucks there goes any aspirations for a career as a grafitti artist.
Take care of yourself. I hope the new keyboard helps. When you write again schedule some breaks and massage your hands frequently. Do what you need to do so you can write comfortably. Pain and twitching are not part of the plan!
Poor you, RSI really sucks!! Hope you feel better soon! And it is a great excuse to read
(I always feel such an idiot having my wrists strapped up then having to explain, no I wasn’t doing some amazing mechanical feat that went wrong, just using a keyboard! especially as Big G is a welder and is the type of bloke who’ll have half his wrist hanging off and gaffer tape it up!!)
Twitching????
Nasty.
Take care you.
Maybe time to thinking about using Dragon or one of the other voice to text programmes even if it’s just for the blogs etc just to save your hands a bit. I know it would be a hard switch for me because after all these years I think typing has become part of my thinking/writing process. But maybe a little time invested now could save time/pain etc in future. Hasn’t Fiona done this?
Hope the keyboard arrives…just don’t over do it!

I found a gel pad for my wrist – both at my keyboard and mousepad – made a WORLD of difference.
I have to be careful of knitting too much as well. Sigh.
RSI is the bane of our lives – hope you’re out of bandages soon. Can sympathise – was working to a deadline myself this week and thumbs went into spasm after 6k!
