on the final stretch

November 16, 2009 | Uncategorized

I will finish editing today. Really. I will.

Here are the stats. I have:

  • 55 pages of hard copy left to read and edit
  • 125 55 pages of edits left to input into the computer
  • an ending to tweak (I’m setting it in a different place, which is more dramatic)
  • to go through all the character names and change some as they all seem to begin with A
  • to do a spell check
  • That is just about do-able in one day, I think, and I can print out tomorrow. I’ll update and cross them off as they’re done.

EDIT: It’s done, will be printed out tomorrow and sent to my agent! Hooray!!!!!

The crossed off bits look pretty substantial Julie. Good luck with the rest of the tweaks.

Looking forward to seeing you Thursday night when we can have a drink to celebrate you (hopefully) having sent it off.

You’re doing well, Julie! (Psst, you do know that your agent is going to be at the party…?)

    3. Jan Jones says:

But, um, how can you have got to now before realising that the names are wrong? Mine always shriek at me.

    4. Julie says:

Ahh well they’re all minor characters with the wrong names, mostly people who don’t actually appear in the story and are just mentioned. I’ve got an Annabelle and an Abigail and an Archie who I’m keeping, but I’m getting rid of the Alex, the Anni, the Agnes, the Amy and the Antoine.

And yes, I know my agent will be at the party, that’s why I want her to have this book instead of me!!
