I’m going to cheat on this one and just say—go look at the pictures of shoes at the gala dinner, on the RNA blog.
(Mine are in the third picture from top, on the right hand side, next to Lara’s sandals. I wonder what we were talking about when the picture was taken…)

A nice photo from Rachel Long, who saw some good reading for sale during her holiday in Halkidiki.

Me and John Grisham hangin' out in Greece

(Hmm. Maybe that title could be misinterpreted. Oh well, maybe I’ll get some interesting people visiting after a Google search.)
I totally love it when you’re writing a scene and suddenly the characters, the setting, the action all come to life and all you’re doing is transcribing it.
Truly, cutting the 30,000 words I’d already written on this novel and starting all over again from the beginning was a very good thing to do. Instead of lacklustre plodding, I’ve got scenes that jump off the page at me. It was painful to cut, but it was worth it. I now have three good chapters instead of six sucky ones.
What’s your best writing moment been lately?

Off to the Festival of Writing in York this morning, to give a couple of workshops and meet lots of people. It should be fun.
Hopefully none of them will look at the back of my neck.

As a follow-up to that last post about the RNA lunch—I may have mentioned (six or seven times) that I bought these green shoes to wear to the lunch, and I had the worst time trying to find a bag that matched them. There’s lots of green about, but not the bright, dark, grass green of these shoes. So I ended up buying a black bag with some fun accents, and went to the lunch on Tuesday.
On Friday, that is three days later, I was walking the Fecklet back from nursery, and what did I see in the window of a Help the Aged charity shop? A green bag, a nice bright green, embroidered with lovely springy flowers, totally lovely and eye-catching, retro and handmade-looking, in the nicest way.
For £1.49.
Needless to say I bought it, and I’m now awaiting another occasion to use it.

I have done mynails (Revlon Plum Night) and so am not typing v well. Getting redy to go to RNA Awards Luncheon. Presented by Barry Norman don’tchaknow!
I can’t wait to see my friends, connect with my agent, catch up with editors, and meet new people. Not to mention food, wine, coffee, lots of hugs and chat, and most importantly celebrating the most fantastic romantic novels and the people who write them. Especially my friends Nell Dixon, Nina Harrington and Jan Jones who are shortlisted for the Love Story of the Year award. And wearing new GREEN SHOES and new little black dress! (V. little black dress. Slightly worried will no longer fit.)
So excited!!
I’ll be back tomorrow, most likely a teensy leetle bit hungover.

Sorry guys, I know I said I’d post again today with a book giveaway, but I had an unexpectedly evil yoga teacher this morning and I’m coming down with a cold this afternoon, so I’m going to bed. (Yes, I know it’s 7.30 pm.)
I will post tomorrow to talk about Nina Jones and the Temple of Gloom, including a bit of an excerpt and also a chance to win a signed copy of the book, and I’ll keep the contest open an extra couple of days. Promise.
Meanwhile, there’s an interview with me up on fab chick-lit web site Novelicious.

Here’s a cool thing…my local Waterstone’s has got a shelf label for me.
Right beside the erotica.
Awesome.
(The focus isn’t great, but if you squint you can see the sign on the right says “Erotica A-Z by author”.)
