Off to USA tomorrow morning. With toddler. Have packed up everything and cleaned house for house-sitter but am dreading flight. If you don’t hear from me by Friday I’ve most likely been lynched by fellow passengers for being too noisy.

So this hay fever is totally evil.
My sinuses are so clogged that whenever I swallow, my eardrums bulge. The whites of my eyes are constantly red. Various drugs, while having little effect on the symptoms, have transformed me into a walking, sniffing, bloodshot zombie.
The only preventative technique that seems to actually work is to wear huge celebrity sunglasses at all times. And this, of course, makes people look at you as if they think you’re trying to impersonate Posh Spice or someone, even in your baggy jeans and man’s sweatshirt.
Plus it’s really difficult to use a computer indoors whilst wearing sunglasses.
Anyway, enough moaning…here’s something cool. If you buy Writing Magazine this month, and turn to Margaret James’s article about “Sizzling Sex,” you can read about me talking about “hard, throbbing lollies”. Hee hee hee…

I’ve seen the final mock-ups for my new website/blog design, which look lovely and sparkly and airy and new. It looks familiar, but…different.
My designer/webmistress has already upgraded to a new WordPress version (cool!) and she says the site will go live sometime in the next few days.
I’ll be having a little party and some contests to celebrate my new site, so make sure you come back to check!
Whoo-hooo!!

Today is my mom’s birthday. I haven’t been able to get in touch with her because she’s been busy with her sisters, being appropriately and deservedly pampered.
So I’m wishing her a happy birthday on the world wide web. If you’ve got a moment, wish her a happy birthday in the comments because she would be tickled!

Very nice post today…I won Phillipa Ashley’s contest so I now have some gorgeous Valentine’s chocolates to eat. I wonder how long they will last…I’m betting about five minutes.
I read Phillipa’s book Wish You Were Here the other day and it was fun, a proper romantic romance with two very likeable characters.
I also got copies of Married in a Rush in Dutch. It’s called Lust of Leifde? I thought this had something to do with lust (nice one), but Babel Fish tells me it means “Or does love like?” I have no idea what this means, but oh well.
Does anybody read Dutch? Want a copy? Send me an email.

Agh! After writing like the wind yesterday, today I find myself writing like a–well, what’s so slow it’s not moving at all? A rock, I guess. A rock firmly stuck in the mud.
Part of this is because what I was writing yesterday was a flashback, so it sort of had a shape to it before I even started. It began in one place and ended in another and then it was done. Whereas today, I’m back to the main story, and I’ve got to move that forward. As usual, I have little idea of where it will go because after the initial set-up, I never have a clue about plot.
Character, yes. Plot, no. And you know what I said about characters giving you the plot? This is all well and good until they hold out on you, just hanging out in your brain and saying, “Yeah? So? You wanna make me?”
And my house smells of vinegar because I’ve been descaling the shower head.

I’ve got a post about dreams coming true today on Romance Bandits, a fantastic group blog. You can leave a comment for a chance to win a copy of One Night Stand.
Fecklet has started to play in a different way. Instead of just hitting or shaking or pressing or biting things, he’s begun to use them. He holds a toy telephone up to his ear and starts talking. He rolls cars around on the floor and makes “brrrrrmmm” noises. And it’s any toy telephone (or real one), and any toy car, so he’s recognising that different things have the same function. It is, of course, adorable.

Well I am feeling a little bit bleary this morning and there seems to be ketchup on my keyboard from the after-party sausage sandwich I had when I got home, but I am bravely hauling myself onto the world wide web in order to announce my very cool announcement, which is this:

Fellow Modern Heat author Kate Hardy has also been shortlisted, as have Romance writers Fiona Harper (twice!), Liz Fielding, and Lucy Gordon. It’s such an honour to be on the list with friends and wonderful writers. You can see the whole list here.
Serendipitously, Driving Him Wild is released next month in North America, under the title of His for the Taking. It’s available on eHarlequin both as a print book and as an ebook.
And the launch went wonderfully. I’ll blog about it properly when I’ve got my head on straight but meanwhile here is a photo of me doing a reading from One Night Stand.
