(Hmm. Maybe that title could be misinterpreted. Oh well, maybe I’ll get some interesting people visiting after a Google search.)

I totally love it when you’re writing a scene and suddenly the characters, the setting, the action all come to life and all you’re doing is transcribing it.

Truly, cutting the 30,000 words I’d already written on this novel and starting all over again from the beginning was a very good thing to do. Instead of lacklustre plodding, I’ve got scenes that jump off the page at me. It was painful to cut, but it was worth it. I now have three good chapters instead of six sucky ones.

What’s your best writing moment been lately?

As a follow-up to that last post about the RNA lunch—I may have mentioned (six or seven times) that I bought these green shoes to wear to the lunch, and I had the worst time trying to find a bag that matched them. There’s lots of green about, but not the bright, dark, grass green of these shoes. So I ended up buying a black bag with some fun accents, and went to the lunch on Tuesday.

On Friday, that is three days later, I was walking the Fecklet back from nursery, and what did I see in the window of a Help the Aged charity shop? A green bag, a nice bright green, embroidered with lovely springy flowers, totally lovely and eye-catching, retro and handmade-looking, in the nicest way.

For £1.49.

Needless to say I bought it, and I’m now awaiting another occasion to use it.

I have done mynails (Revlon Plum Night) and so am not typing v well. Getting redy to go to RNA Awards Luncheon. Presented by Barry Norman don’tchaknow!

I can’t wait to see my friends, connect with my agent, catch up with editors, and meet new people. Not to mention food, wine, coffee, lots of hugs and chat, and most importantly celebrating the most fantastic romantic novels and the people who write them. Especially my friends Nell Dixon, Nina Harrington and Jan Jones who are shortlisted for the Love Story of the Year award. And wearing new GREEN SHOES and new little black dress! (V. little black dress. Slightly worried will no longer fit.)

So excited!!

I’ll be back tomorrow, most likely a teensy leetle bit hungover.
