Yikes! Yikes! Yikes! Stop press!
I was watching CBeebies this evening with the Fecklet, when who appears on my screen to read the bedtime story but this man!

I have never seen him before in my life but his name is Tom Ward and he is the hero of the book I am writing right now! Holy cow! Where’d he suddenly spring from?
And does he want to come round for tea?!?!

Good morning Monday!
I have a busy blogging scheduled lined up for the next week, because CLOSE ENCOUNTERS is released as an e-book a week from tomorrow! So hopefully, if B. H. Dark cooperates, from Wednesday we’re going to have alien and Earthling guest bloggers, a contest or two, and maybe some other stuff, both here and on the B. H. Dark website.
Meanwhile, I have at least one more post to do about revisions (because I really never shut up about this stuff). Oh, and I have to write this book.
We took Fecklet swimming yesterday, which was hilarious. You hold him under his arms, and he just floats and kicks and moves his arms around. This must be totally natural to do, because I’ve never shown him how or anything.

I’m reading Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (yes, I know, I’m way behind the times, but I don’t read a lot of paranormal romance or young adult fiction) and it’s pulled me in just incredibly. I’ve got this heady feeling like I’m in love myself, a feeling I get when deep inside my own stories, too. Like I’m the main character and my life is as intense as hers, and everything has added significance. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.
Have you read it? Or have you read something lately that’s made you feel like you’re really there, yourself?

This is brilliant, and great press for romance! Nicola Cornick is a fellow RNA member and her books are fab, emotional and fast-paced.
ROMANCE AUTHOR’S BOOK UP IN LIGHTS IN TIMES SQUARE
Historical romance author Nicola Cornick was stunned to discover the book cover of her latest American release”Unmasked” splashed in neon lights on a high-rise building in New York’s Times Square. The novel was released in July under the HQN imprint of Harlequin books.
Nicola, a prominent member of the Romantic Novelists’ Association who also writes historicals for Harlequin Mills and Boon in the UK, was delighted. “It was jolly exciting to see my name up in lights!”
“Unmasked” follows the adventures of the notorious gang of highwaywomen the Glory Girls, who ride over the wild hills and valleys of Yorkshire righting the injustices of society. Sent from London to unmask Glory, Major Nick Falconer finds instead widow Marina Osborne. Drawn irresistibly to her, Nick determines to possess her - body, soul and secrets - at any cost. But Mari’s sinister past holds deeper and darker truths than Nick could ever imagine. Will trusting the one man she desperately wants lead her straight to the hangman’s noose?

“Well, if that ain’t Carl Carlington*, it should be.”
“It was yesterday**. And who might you be?”
“I’m John Dearborn, I used to drive the school bus. I heard you were dead.”
“Not yet.”
* pronounced “Cahl Cahlinton”
** pronounced “yestuhdee”

On Thursday 28th August, I’ll be participating in Middlesbrough library’s Girls’ Night In.
This looks like a very fun thing. Firstly, they are having massages and pink fizz and chocolate. Secondly, they’ve got “pampering treats” for sale. And thirdly, there will be me, fellow Little Black Dress author Kate Lace, and bestseller Adele Parks to read bits from our books and chat and sign things.
If you’re in the area, you can get a ticket for £5 at any Middlesbrough library branch, or ring 01642 729426 or 246947.

Off to USA tomorrow morning. With toddler. Have packed up everything and cleaned house for house-sitter but am dreading flight. If you don’t hear from me by Friday I’ve most likely been lynched by fellow passengers for being too noisy.

So this hay fever is totally evil.
My sinuses are so clogged that whenever I swallow, my eardrums bulge. The whites of my eyes are constantly red. Various drugs, while having little effect on the symptoms, have transformed me into a walking, sniffing, bloodshot zombie.
The only preventative technique that seems to actually work is to wear huge celebrity sunglasses at all times. And this, of course, makes people look at you as if they think you’re trying to impersonate Posh Spice or someone, even in your baggy jeans and man’s sweatshirt.
Plus it’s really difficult to use a computer indoors whilst wearing sunglasses.
Anyway, enough moaning…here’s something cool. If you buy Writing Magazine this month, and turn to Margaret James’s article about “Sizzling Sex,” you can read about me talking about “hard, throbbing lollies”. Hee hee hee…

I’ve seen the final mock-ups for my new website/blog design, which look lovely and sparkly and airy and new. It looks familiar, but…different.
My designer/webmistress has already upgraded to a new WordPress version (cool!) and she says the site will go live sometime in the next few days.
I’ll be having a little party and some contests to celebrate my new site, so make sure you come back to check!
Whoo-hooo!!
